Last week, OBIO announced the successful completion of the OBIO Canadian Health Investment Showcase in New York City.
On November 5th and 6th, over 21 representatives from Canada’s highest potential health science companies and more than 35 premier US investors engaged in hundreds of meetings, creating exciting investment and collaboration opportunities.
In addition to a room full of one-on-one meetings in a dynamic environment, the Canadian Health Investment Showcase kicked off on November 5th with a panel discussion about cross border investing that featured two representatives from North America’s most prominent venture capital firms - Dennis Purcell, Founder and Senior Advisor at Aisling Capital and Colleen Cuffaro, Principal at Canaan Partners - as well as a cross border investor who is also a bioscience CEO - Tom Cirrito, CEO of Biotagenics and CIO of Crosswalk Ventures - and Andres Liivak, a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright who specializes in cross-border deals in life sciences and healthcare.
A keynote presentation from Silicon Valley Bank on November 6 focused on the trends in healthcare investment in 2018, giving companies and investors a broader view on what’s been happening in this space.
Over lunch on November 6th, attendees of the Showcase heard from two seasoned investors who discussed their approaches to engaging with companies, providing insight and suggestions for moving forward.
