Defence and Dual-Use Applications
The Convergence of Life Sciences & Health Tech
with National Security
The convergence of life sciences and health tech with national security is a strategic imperative and OBIO® is playing its part to help Canada meet its accelerated NATO Defence Investment Pledge.
We are delighted to see Prime Minister Carney highlight the vital role of life sciences in Canada’s 2026 Defence Industrial Strategy. The focus on strengthening Canadian intellectual property, securing supply chains, supporting discovery research, and accelerating the commercialization of dual use and defence related innovation is a major step forward for our sector and our country. The commitment of $656.9 million to support the development and commercialization of defence and dual-use technologies, through the Strategic Response Fund, Innovative Solutions Canada, and the Life Sciences Fund, will help Canadian companies scale, compete globally, and drive national resilience and protect Canada’s sovereignty.
OBIO® is supporting the commercialization of dual-use technologies in life sciences & health tech as we play our part in building Canada’s security, prosperity, and strategic autonomy.
