OBIO’s H2BB™ Health Technology Business Bootcamp: Software Development in Health Sciences

This hands-on, interactive bootcamp was designed for recent grads with a background in computer science, engineering, data science or business looking to jumpstart their career in health technology. The bootcamp provided participants with an understanding of the software development life cycle process and how it interacts with all other aspects of a health science business. Bootcamp participants had the opportunity to develop new skills and sharpen their existing skills to influence success and create value for themselves.

The spectrum of health sciences impacted by software technologies is diverse. As a result, technology and business professionals who can apply their skills in the areas of health science listed below have an opportunity to influence and have an impact on the Canadian healthcare ecosystem:

Bootcamp participants:

  • Gained an understanding of software development life cycle practices, as well as new and innovative software applications in the health science industry.

  • Delved into various aspects of health science software development from both a technical and business perspective, including artificial intelligence, data mining, blockchain, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, design controls, privacy and security, as well as project & product management, finance, business development and sales & marketing.

To be eligible for the BOOTCAMP, applicants had to:

  • Be unemployed

  • Reside in Ontario

  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a work permit

  • Have completed a post-secondary degree and not be currently enrolled as a full-time student

  • Have an interest in health science and be seeking employment in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Join the OBIO® Job Board and Talent Network

 

OBIO’s Health Technology Business Bootcamp: Software Technology in Health Sciences took place between May 30 - June 3, 2022 and was available at no cost to eligible applicants. Selected candidates were contacted for initial screening interviews.
