NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) Challenges for 2027

The NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) has put out its latest Challenges for 2027, inviting submissions from innovators in dual-use fields (having both civilian and potential military application) across 10 challenge areas. The challenges can be met with a very broad range of technologies, examples of which are offered in the challenge statements themselves and pasted in an abridged fashion below, for ease of reference. Information is available on DIANA’s webpage on how to submit a strong application.

What is the DIANA Challenge Programme?

DIANA is a programme that uses ‘challenges’ (problem-focused statements, rather than solution-specific requirements) to identify emerging and disruptive technologies which can fulfil capability needs of the Alliance. […] Innovators submit proposals in response to these challenges. Companies that are competitively selected based on their proposed solutions will be invited to join the DIANA Challenge Programme, signing a framework agreement to become “DIANA innovators” and continue iterating the solution they proposed in response to the challenge.

‍Submit your proposal to become a DIANA innovator and join the Accelerator Programme, starting in January 2027.

The application deadline for this round of the Challenge is July 3, 2026.
