Microbiome Innovations for New Therapies (MINT)

The Weston Family Foundation has invested in research that leverages the microbiome towards improving human health for almost ten years. The Foundation is pleased to announce the Microbiome Innovations for New Therapies (MINT) program. MINT will invest $37 million over seven years to support novel microbiome-based interventions targeting chronic diseases.

The MINT program is structured as a staged translational funding pathway designed to move promising microbiome-based interventions from early translational validation toward clinical and commercial readiness.

Eligible projects will:

• Focus on advancing a microbiome-based intervention by addressing key translational barriers such as efficacy in human-relevant systems, clinical feasibility, regulatory readiness, manufacturability, scalability, commercialization, or implementation.

• Form part of a longer-term development pathway toward clinically viable interventions with the potential to improve the health of Canadians.
