Women in the Business of Health Science Bootcamp

As Canada’s economic recovery is shifting into higher gear, companies are positioning themselves for business growth by acquiring top talent.

OBIO® held an intensive six-day long Business Bootcamp designed to help women transition into business-oriented roles in the growing health science industry. OBIO’s Women in the Business of Health Science Bootcamp took place between August 23 – 30 and was available at no cost to eligible applicants.

What participants gained from their experience:

  • An overview of the way all pieces of a business fit together and the many aspects associated with running a health science company.

  • Training delivered by seasoned professionals in various areas of business such as finance, marketing, sales, strategy, business development, project management, operations, communications and more!

  • Knowledge in leveraging their existing skill sets to secure business-oriented roles in the health science industry.

  • Additional professional development mentorship, as well as resume and interview coaching to help participants land a job and accelerate their career.

OBIO’s H2BB Workforce Development Program is accredited by the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies.

OBIO’s H2BB Women in the Business of Health Science Bootcamp was endorsed and recognized by the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies (UofT SCS). Participants who successfully completed this OBIO® program received a micro-credential issued by UofT SCS. In addition, a successful completion of the bootcamp program paired with UofT SCS courses may lead to a full UofT SCS Certificate.

The University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies has also officially endorsed the application of the Health to Business Bridge (H2BB™) Women in the Business of Health Science Bootcamp micro-credential towards the following two SCS Certificates:

Certificate in Life Science Enterprise – Bootcamp graduates can gain advanced standing in this certificate. The Bootcamp has been identified as equivalent to the 2756 Employment in Life Science course.

Certificate in Business Innovation – Bootcamp graduates can gain advanced standing in this three-course certificate, for one course of their choosing with the submission of a brief statement outlining prior learning and work experience. There is no fee for this review process.

Who COULD Apply?

To apply, women had to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Unemployed or employed and looking to advance their career

  • Must have completed most recent full time degree

  • Interested in transitioning into a business-oriented role in the health science industry

  • A resident of Ontario

  • Eligible to work in Canada

Enrollment space was limited – successful candidates were selected on a rolling basis.
